Privacy Policy

Here's what happens to the information you give me, what I use it for and the choices you have.

1. Who I am

Dave Does Websiting provides website design, website improvement and ongoing website support services.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, Dave Does Websiting is responsible for the personal information described in this privacy policy.

2. Information I collect

I only collect information that is reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, provide my services and understand how this website is used.

If you contact me through the website, by email or by another communication method, this may include:

  • your name;
  • your business name;
  • your email address;
  • your telephone number, if you provide it;
  • your website address;
  • the type of website help you're interested in; and
  • anything else you choose to include in your enquiry.

If you become a customer, I may also hold information needed to manage our working relationship, provide services, communicate with you, issue invoices and maintain appropriate business records.

When website analytics are enabled, technical and usage information may also be collected, such as information about your device and browser, pages visited and how you interact with the website.

3. How I use your information

I may use your information to:

  • respond to an enquiry you've made;
  • understand what help you need;
  • prepare a proposal or quotation;
  • provide and manage services you ask me to carry out;
  • communicate with you about those services;
  • maintain appropriate business and financial records;
  • keep the website secure and working properly; and
  • understand how people use the website and improve it.

I don't currently use enquiry details to add people to a marketing mailing list, and I won't sell your personal information.

4. My lawful bases for using your information

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for processing personal information. Depending on why I'm using your information, I may rely on:

Taking steps before entering into a contract

For example, when you ask me about a website project, request a quotation or provide information so that I can work out what service you need.

Performance of a contract

Where the information is necessary to provide services you've agreed to purchase from me.

Legitimate interests

I may process information where it is reasonably necessary for running and protecting the business, dealing with genuine business enquiries, maintaining appropriate records or improving the website, provided those interests aren't overridden by your rights and interests.

Legal obligations

Some information may need to be kept or used to meet legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Consent

Where consent is the appropriate basis — for example, for certain non-essential cookies or analytics technologies — you can withdraw that consent.

5. Website forms and Webflow

This website is built and hosted using Webflow. When you submit the contact form, the information you enter is processed through Webflow's form services and a notification is sent to me.

Form submissions may also be stored within Webflow so that I can access and manage enquiries.

I only use the information you submit for the purposes described in this policy.

6. Google Analytics and cookies

This website may use Google Analytics to help me understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are visited and how people find and interact with the website.

Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and process technical and usage information about your visit.

Where consent is required, non-essential analytics technologies will only be used after you have made the appropriate choice through the website's cookie controls. You can change or withdraw that choice through those controls.

7. Who I share information with

I don't sell or rent your personal information. I may use trusted service providers where necessary to operate the website and business.

These may include:

  • Webflow, which provides website hosting and form services;
  • Google, where Google Analytics is used;
  • email and other business technology providers; and
  • professional advisers or authorities where required by law.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, I will rely on the safeguards required under applicable data protection law.

8. How long I keep your information

Information from general enquiries will normally be kept for up to 2 years after our last contact, unless there is a good reason to keep it for longer.

If you become a customer, relevant information may be kept for longer where it is needed to provide services, maintain business records, deal with any later queries or meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Information will not be kept for longer than is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

9. Keeping your information secure

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

No website or online service can guarantee absolute security, but I aim to use reputable services and sensible technical and organisational measures to protect the information I handle.

10. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:

  • ask for a copy of personal information I hold about you;
  • ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
  • ask for information to be deleted in certain circumstances;
  • ask me to restrict how information is used in certain circumstances;
  • object to certain uses of your information;
  • receive certain information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on your consent.

I may update this privacy policy if the website, the services I use or the way I handle personal information changes.
